Eastern Market Food Tour

Join fellow alumni as we learn about the history of Eastern Market while sampling some of the tasty food sold there!

Join fellow Illini as we learn about the history of the oldest continuously running food market in the Washington, DC area!  This will be a guided walking tour where we will stop by various vendors at the market to learn about their history and sample some cuisine from each vendor.  Please note that you will be standing for the duration of the tour as there are no chairs and tables at each vendor's location.  The tour will take place rain or shine, but may be rescheduled in the event of severe weather conditions.

When: Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:30pm (the tour will last approximately 1.5 hours)

Where: We will meet at the Eastern Market Metro station and then take the short walk over to Eastern Market as a group. Depending on the number of DC Illini who sign up for the tour, we will be broken up into groups of 8 people so that everyone is able to hear the tour guide.

Tickets: This is a DC Illini members only event.  Tickets are $36/person and all food and drink samples are included in the ticket price.  Tickets will be handed out on the day of the event. Samplings may include regional and international cheeses, empanadas, locally grown fruit, artisanal bread, DC half smokes, homemade Korean BBQ and greek pies.  Ticket purchase deadline is September 12, 2017 to ensure we are able to make our group reservation before spaces sell out.
