Support Race for the Cure in Honor of Jan Mulvaney!

The DC Illini Club of Washington, DC lost a true friend, wonderful leader and dedicated volunteer recently. Join the DC Illini team in Race for the Cure in memory of Jan!

Good afternoon DC Illini!

Tens of thousands of people will gather on the National Mall on June 5 for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure® Our goal is to make a huge impact on the global movement to end breast cancer.

The DC Illini are going to be running this year in memory of Jan Mulvaney,  who served on the DC Illini Club's Board of Directors for 20 years and made a remarkable impact on our club. Last year, we raised over $700 together and this year we hope to raise at least $1,000 for the cause.

Up to 75 percent of the Komen Global Race’s net income stays in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to fund local screening, treatment and education programs for the medically underserved. The remaining dollars support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Global Promise Fund, a program which is dedicated to reaching underserved people in areas where breast cancer mortality rates are the highest.

Every dollar makes a difference:
$100 could be used to provide one mammogram
$250 could be used to cover five clinical breast exams
$500 could be used to provide five diagnostic ultrasounds
$1000 could be used to provide 10 mammograms

I know you understand why this is so important to us and understand why we are asking for your financial support. Running a 5K is easy. Asking for money is not. But if we are ever going to find the cures to incredibly difficult problems like breast cancer, we must ask. Please take a moment to follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising Web page at GlobalRacefortheCure.org and make a donation. Donating online is safe, secure and quick!

Sincerely,
DC Illini

P.S. Don't forget to ask your employer if they provide matching gifts for your donation.
