The University of Illinois Alumni Club of Greater Washington DC offers scholarships each year to outstanding high school seniors from the Washington DC area who will be attending the University of Illinois. The funding for these scholarships comes entirely from donations made by the members of our local alumni club. For 2009, our club was proud to award five $1,350 scholarships.

All high school seniors who have been admitted into the University of Illinois and have a current/permanent address in the greater Washington DC area are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Those eligible will receive an application in the mail from our club's Scholarship Director shortly after the mid-February admissions notifications. Scholarship applications will have a late March application deadline, at which point our club's Scholarship Committee will gather to  review the applicants and select our winners based on the following:

• School Activities
• Community Activities
• Employment
• Leadership
• Personal Statement
• Letters of Recommendation
• Reader Judgement
• SAT/ACT Scores
